Second Education in Exile grant made to Human Care Syria
We’re delighted to be funding Human Care Syria’s new School in a Box kits for children being educated in a camp outside Aleppo, Syria.
£1,470 from TiC will cover the cost of at least 7 kits, including essential stationery and supplies enabling teachers in the camp to run lessons for the children and for the children to take materials away to use for homework. The kits include materials that most schools would take for granted:
- Crayons
- Scissors
- Exercise books or slates for writing
- An inflatable globe
- A clock for teaching the time
- Rulers
- Chalk
- Black paint to create a blackboard
- Posters of the alphabet, times tables and world map
The materials are being sourced by Human Care Syria staff in nearby Turkey, in time for the start of term, and feedback will be gathered from teachers on how the kit contents can be refined for the future. We look forward to reports of how classrooms in the camp are making use of their School in a Box.
