TIC Connects Children to Chances...
Founded in 1964, Trust in Children supports children to access education and opportunities for non-academic development. We ‘Connect Children to Chances’ by helping children from the poorest sectors of society make the most of who they are. This enables them to make a sustainable difference to their societies. TiC supports children worldwide – our current projects help children in Malawi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Bosnia, Peru and the Philippines.
TiC is a small charity with no paid staff; it is solely run by the hard work of its trustees. TiC gives grants to small charities which are doing a great job in helping local children access education; where we see unfulfilled need and are able to help, we set up our own project, such as Project Piura, Peru. Our small size allows us to build long-term relationships with locally-focused charities which can be overlooked by larger donors. We pride ourselves on carefully researching and considering all grants applications before awarding funding.
Pick up a Piece is a TiC scheme which encourages our members to get actively involved in the development of our future work. Members are invited to let trustees know about projects which they feel would benefit from TiC’s support; Project Hope (Democratic Republic of Congo); Project Wawa (Philippines) and Project Firefly (Bosnia) were all Pick Up A Piece recommended projects.
"Education is priceless and a small donation to Trust in Children can make a huge difference to a child's start in life. TiC's projects are a reminder of the importance of education and Pick Up a Piece is a great way to find out what's stopping children from going to school and doing something about it."
